Hybrids and electric cars will account for 40% of Renault sales in Europe this year

One year ago, representatives of one of Renault's oldest car manufacturers called for a reasonable pace of switching to electric vehicles, because they believed that the complete elimination of VPDs in a short period of time would be hampered by both poor infrastructure and the high price of electric vehicles, but it was surprising that this brand was able to double the share of hybrids and electric vehicles in its European sales in a couple of years, and it is planned to reach 40% this year.

The operations director of Renault Fabris Kamboliv, at an event leading up to the start of the Paris Motor Show, expressed confidence in the ability of the car concierge by the end of this year to bring hybrids and electric vehicles to 40% of the sales of passenger cars on the European market, which almost doubled in just a couple of years, and now Renault has no doubt that by 2030 the company will be able to phase out almost all of the sales of cars with VANs in Europe, a goal previously described by an effort to increase the share of hybrids and electric vehicles to 90%.

Last year, machines with these types of power plant accounted for up to a quarter of all European brand sales, and in the first half of this year, the proportion increased to one third. Renaul will rely, among other things, on electric Megane, Renault 5 and Renault 4, the announcement of which is scheduled for the forthcoming Paris Motor Show. In November, the French car manufacturer will present a separate business restructuring strategy, which involves the creation of a unit responsible for electrification and software.

According to Renault, there has been a general decline in the European automobile market in recent months due to high inflation, and sales of new cars have declined by about 20%. In just 2022, European sales are expected to remain at the level of the previous year, according to Fabris Kamboliv. Early this year, Renault announced cooperation with Nissan and Mitsubishi, which are part of the same alliance, the partners are about to release 35 new models of electric vehicles by 2030.
