The video map of GeForce RTX 4090 was tested in 8K resolution games. For this purpose, YouTube Channel The Tech Chap collected a new computer based on Ryzen 97950X and a flagship television Samsung supported by a resolution of 7,680 x 4,320 pixels.
It should be noted that at the time of the announcement of the previous generation's flagship video map, GeForce RTX 3090, NVIDIA had positioned it as "the first solution for games in 8K." However, two years after its release, the 8K-supported display was never won by the market. Such solutions remain niche and very expensive. Most display manufacturers release monitors with a resolution of up to 4K, sometimes 5K models. 8K meets only in television and can be considered rare. But YouTube Channel The Tech Chap decided to see how GeForce RTX 4090 can handle 8K.
The test system was equipped with a 16-nuclear flag Ryzen 97950X on Zen architecture 4, an ASUS ROG Maximus X670E Hero and 32 Gbyte DDR5-6200. The PC was connected to the 65-inch Samsung Neo QLD QN800B 8K TV with a value of $3,500.
The production of the video card was checked in modern demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Flight Simulator, Forza Horizon 5 and others. In Cyberpunk 2077, flagship GeForce RTX 4090 ensured a speed of up to 65 frames per second in 8K, but only with the activation of the IE-scaled DLSS 3, the game was not played without it. In turn, GeForce RTX 3090 was able to provide only 28 FPS, also only with DLSS. It is true that the old flagship uses a less advanced DLSS 2.1.
In Microsoft Flight Simulator, the result of GeForce RTX 4090 in the 8K resolution was 81 frames per second, also activated by the IE scaler. RTX 3090 was able to produce almost twice the result of 46 FPS.
In the Forza Horizon 5 game, the average of the new 8K flagship was 76 FPS without DLSS. The map was also checked in Overwatch 2, where she issued 520 FPS. This is twice as much as GeForce RTX 3090 in the same settings.
Also participating in the tests were Call of Duty: Warzone and Crysis Remastered. In the latter case, DLSS was activated and ray-tracked. GeForce RTX 4090 released 8K frequency to Crysis Remastered in 65 FPS and 117 FPS in CoD: Warzone.
