MediaTek introduced another mobile one-crystal platform with support from 5G - Democracy 1080. According to specifications, this is a modification of the "Demence 1050" chip, designed for smartphones in the lower middle segment, which is worth about $300.
Dymensity 1080 uses a tested two-claster configuration CPU with two Arm Cortex-A78 kernels of 2.6 GHz and six Cortex-A55 2 GHz. Chipset is released according to TSMC's 6nm N6 process.
There is an additional MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 online engine. This solution allows participation in an online game using one SIM card with 5G support while responding to phone calls to another number. The LPDDR5 and the UFS 3.1 flash memory are maintained. The mobile platform is able to maintain a matrix resolution module of up to 200 megapixels, while the ISP image processor allows the HDR video to be recorded in the 4K resolution in real time.
A smartphone display equipped with Democracy 1080 will be able to offer a Full HD+ resolution with an update rate of 120 Hz. Although this is not much for 2022, smartphones at the lower average price level are unlikely to use a higher display.
Support is provided for 5G SA/NSA networks up to 6 GHz, two-band aggregation of frequencies , Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth of an unnamed version. It is known that this option uses a third-generation APU processor to process data using artificial intelligence algorithms. A lack of support for mmWave 5G frequencies is expected as they are used in a few regions of the world and are usually available in more expensive smartphones.
According to the developer, "Demence 1080" gadgets will be available in stores as early as the 4th quarter of 2022.
