The fact that the graphic processors of GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 408016GB are capable of operating at 3.0 GHz, which is much higher than the manufacturer's declared values, became known last week. At the same time, it was suggested that newers might be subject to even higher tactical frequencies. Now this has been confirmed by data from fresh leaks.
One Twitter user published several screen shots of the GPU-Z program showing the work of the GeForce RTX 4090 graphics processor at 3135 and even 3,240 MHz. It is likely that in both cases it is an extreme acceleration using liquid nitrogen.
One of the scripts presented shows that the GeForce RTX 4090 has no problem operating at a frequency of 2730 MHz. A standard cooling system appears to have been used to cool the accelerator, as the fan speed is just above 1,600 rpm. In this mode, the temperature of the GPU was 65.6 °C and at the hottest point the video card reached 73.4 °C. At the same time, the accelerator energy consumption was 446.9 W.
The GeForce RTX 4090 graphics chip was then accelerated to a frequency of 3135 MHz. In this case, the fan rotation rate is no longer indicated, which may indicate the use of a non-standard cooling system, while the GPU temperature of the video cards was 68.2 °C and the energy consumption was 492.8 W.
According to a second leak from the same Twitter user, the graphic chip of the video cards was dispersed to a frequency of 3,240 MHz.
Unfortunately, the script provided to confirm this contains much less information about the operating mode of the video card. However, it also indicates the acceleration of the memory of the GDR6X accelerator. In this case, the memory of the video card was operated at a frequency of 1562.7 MHz. Thus, its effective speed was 25003 Mbit/s, which is 4,000 Mbit/s higher than the reference value.
