The Twitter trial against Ilon Mask could be cancelled if he bought the company by 28 October

The decision-making session of the Twitter court with Ilon Mask was scheduled to begin on October 17, and in five working days, the judge was either to compel a billionaire to buy a social network or to release it. Now, with Mask's re-consent to purchase Twitter at $54.20 per action, the judge is prepared to cancel the hearing in mid-October, but with the buyer's willingness to finish the deal by October 28.

Judge Katalyn McCormick made the statement the day before, having received the necessary documents from both Twitter and Ilona Maska. The first, to say the least, were suspicious of the initiative and stated that the cancellation of the trial would be used by Ilon Mask to further delay the process of processing the transaction and the possibility of its total disruption under any pretext. The judge provided insurance in this regard — if Ilon Mask could not buy Twitter by 28 October, the court proceedings would resume in November.

Twitter lawyers added to the situation by referring to an anonymous representative of an investment bank involved in preparing financial resources for the Ilon Mask deal. The informant explained that initially the billionaire was supposed to have received financial guarantees by July, but then refused the Twitter deal, and now he has not confirmed his willingness to make a new loan, although he claims that he will buy the company's assets on the terms agreed in April. According to Twitter, the parties were originally supposed to agree on the terms of the deal by 10 October, but the new date is not under discussion. In this context, the judge who ordered Ilon Mask to complete the deal by 28 October, otherwise the judicial investigation will resume.
