Connectivity Standards Alliance has published a specification of the Smart House Standard Matter 1.0 and has launched a product certification program that will bring together different manufacturers' devices into the smart house system.

Once the first version of Matter specifications is published, the device manufacturers will be able to ensure full compliance with the new standard and compatibility with the equipment of other brands, and the consumer will now think more about using a smart house rather than setting it up and selecting components.

The standard is based on a combination of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE and Thread technologies, which focus on home applications. Users are offered the possibility of rapidly connecting equipment to a low-energy network capable of scaling up. Matter promises high safety standards and support for voice support, including Amazon Alexa, Google Associate and Apple Siri.

The compatible devices with Matter's full support will be available in the near future. However, many electronics manufacturers have taken care to ensure compatibility in the Matter development phase, including Amazon, Apple, Google, LG, Samsung and Signify. They already have devices compatible with the new standard.

The first version of the protocol does not guarantee the solution of all problems even after a few years of development, and the CSA has emphasized that it is a "initial release." On the other hand, it will make it easier to buy smart house devices: instead of collecting gadgets from one manufacturer's ecosystem, you can now relate to Matter's marking and select products that meet actual needs — compatibility has increased dramatically.
