The Indian autogiant Tata Motors enjoys certain legislative privileges, but so far, because of the orientation of the home market, low-cost vehicles have not been able to boast large volumes of sales in the electric vehicle segment. The situation may change the Tiago.ev model, which offers the practicality of a $10,000 compact electric hatchback in the basic version.
Of course, at a steady increase in the price of lithium batteries, a machine with such a price tag would have to melt a certain catch, and in this case it is the modest capacity of the traction battery — not more than 19.2 kWh. At the same time, for about $12,221 Indian customers of Tata Motors will already have a 24 kWh electric vehicle. The calculation range is determined by the specific India-specific MIDC cycle, in the first case it reaches 250 km, and in the second case it increases to 315 km, but the actual performance can be considerably modest.
As is typical, the electric vehicle traction battery is protected from moisture according to IP67 and its charging from a DC charging station will fill the battery charge from 10 to 80% in less than an hour. For domestic use, a 7.2 kW brand charger that lifts the charge from 10% to 100% either in 2.6 hours for the initial electric vehicle installation or in 3.6 hours for a version with a more battery capacity. A portable charger that is suitable for use with any 15 A domestic outlet will restore the battery charge from 10% to 100% for 6.9 or 8.7 hours, depending on the battery ' s maximum capacity.
In all this, the Tata Tiago.ev electric vehicle is not ascetic; it is equipped with a cooled glove box, a Harman Kardon multimedia system with 8 dynamics and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a pair of airbags and ABS with a braking force distribution function, and a rear-view camera with dynamic trajectory lines. It is not even forgotten to monitor tyre pressure, although it is obvious that the listed options are not available in all sets. However, the older one is not worth more than $144,28, and although by Indian standards it is an impressive sum, it is a fairly modern electric vehicle.
