Valve refused to sell Moon New Year at Steam, but now it's going to be spring

Valve announced changes to the Steam sales schedule and revealed the exact timing of the next three season shares in its digital distribution service.

As it became known, the sale of the Moon New Year in early 2022 was the last to take place, and since 2023, it will take place in a full spring sale, which will be part of the season set.

Steam began celebrating the Moon New Year from 2016 to celebrate the influx of developers and players from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and South Korea, but in time the proximity to the December shares made the sale redundant.

With regard to the dates of the next season's Steam sale, they are as follows:

  • Autumn, 22 to 29 November 2022; winter, 22 December 2022 to 5 January 2023; spring, 16 to 23 March 2023.

The changes in the schedule, designed by Valve, will allow four major seasonal sales of Steam to spread throughout the year and give developers a better chance to add and apply discounts related to the calendar.
