SSD prices will drop by 15-20% by the end of the year - 1 Gbyte of memory will cost about 5 euros

According to TrendForce analysts, solid storage will be much cheaper in the fourth quarter, and experts believe that prices for both customer and corporate SSD models could collapse by 15 to 20 per cent.

Experts note that there is a significant surplus in the stock of 3D NAND flash memory in the SSD. The global economic crisis and associated high inflation reduce the purchasing interest in new electronics, computers and smartphones. Many producers have to resort to the sale of their products. Price competition among memory chip suppliers, such as Samsung, SK hynix, Mikron and Kioxia, will continue to grow, leading to a decline in the cost of memory chips and eventually end products using NAND memory.

In the case of the eMMC and UFS flash memory market, which is mainly used in mobile devices, prices are projected to decline by 13 to 18 per cent, with low demand for chrome, television and smartphones noted by analysts.

Experts estimate that the low demand for silicon plates with 3D NAND flash memory chips, combined with the increase in their production and stocks, will result in a reduction of 20-25% in the fourth quarter.

According to the German ComputerBase, there is already a decline in prices on the local market for some solid storage models, in particular the start-up price segment models. In some cases, the value of SSD of 1 Tbyte has fallen below 60 euros or less than 6 Euro cents per Gbyte. If the TrendForce projections are correct, the value of the gigabyte should be reduced to 5 Eurocents by the end of the year.
