More than a year has passed since the South Korean company LG withdrew from the smartphone market and, at the same time, abandoned plans to launch a device with a flexible display, which was being developed at the time, and now there is a video on the network that shows the design and functions of the unreleased smartphone in detail. According to the content of the video, the LG Rollable smartphone with a movable display was almost ready for launch.
The LG originally spoke of the intention to release a smartphone with a flexible screen before the end of 2021. It could be assumed that the statement was based on the company ' s ambitions and there was no solution ready to implement the plan. However, the smartphone shown in the new video says otherwise. The main feature of the device is that the screen does not add up, as many similar solutions do, but turns and turns.
According to available data, the completed prototypes of the warehouse smartphone could have reached LG staff, which explains the appearance of a new video on the Web. The machine is equipped with an OLED-display that has a 6.8 inch diagonal in its folded state, while in its exposed position the diagonal increases to 7.4 inch. On the back of the shell there is another display that appears to be designed to display notifications and other information. The folds are visible in the folded state in the right side of the screen. It is also unclear how much display is available and how many turn-down and folding cycles it can withstand.
The video showed that the round module on the back panel is a fingerprint scanner rather than a camera sensor as previously assumed. Another interesting feature of the LG Rollable is that the SIM card slot is only available in the folded state because when the screen is closed, the slot is blocked. According to available data, the smartphone is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 12 Gbytes of operational memory, a 256 Gbyte storage device and a 4,500 mAh battery.
