Sony showed Nextorage storage devices with PCIe 5.0 interface and speed up to 10,000 mbytes/s

Sony Corporation at Tokyo Game Show 2022 demonstrated samples of high-performance solid storage devices under the Nextorage brand, equipped with the PCIe 5.0 x4 interface.

The solutions have been implemented in the form factor M.22280. The series includes models of capacity 1 and 2 Tbyte. 9,500 and 10,000 Mbyte/s, respectively, and 8,500 and 9,500 Mbyte/s, respectively.

The new ones include a large cooling radiator with a set of vertical ribs, but it is noted that the final design may not be the same.

In addition, Nextorage G Series storage devices with PCIe 4.0 x4 interface are shown. These devices also have M22280 format, and the series includes versions of 1, 2 and 4 Tbyte. All options have a consistent reading speed of 7,300 MB/s. The sequence speed is up to 6,000 MB/s in the junior version and up to 6,900 MB/s in the other two.

Finally, Nextorage G Series SE products with PCIe 4.0 x4 interface have been shown. The family includes 500 Gbyte versions and 1 and 2 Tbyte versions. The reading speed is 4,800 Mbytes/s and the recording speed is 4,100 Mbytes/s.
