Apple will increase orders for an iPhone 14 Pro Max for Samsung Display

According to the South Korean edition The Elec, Samsung Display hopes to receive more orders for OLED panels based on low temperature polycrystal oxide for the most expensive iPhone 14 smartphones due to the high marriage-to-total product ratio of competitors.

For this reason, the Samsung Display calculates that Apple will request the production of LTPO OLED panels on a large scale. The Elec industry sources have reported this. According to some reports, Samsung has already ordered additional equipment for the production of LTPO to expand production, it is likely that the company's actions are based not only on its own calculations but also on Apple agreements. It is assumed that the need for LTPO-displays is fed by the iPhone 14 Pro Max, where the screen is used.

Production equipment has been ordered from AP Systems, HB Solutions and Philoptics at the end of last month, and is expected to be delivered to Samsung Display in Viet Nam, where panels are converted into separate ready-made modules prior to delivery.

Samsung Display is known to have increased the supply plan for OLED panels for iPhone from 130 million to 149 million due to increasing demand from Apple. The company has a longer experience of producing LTPO OLED panels than competitors. In 2020, it had a high percentage of marriages in the LTO OLED for Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra flagships, but since then it has been able to stabilize production.
