Photo of the day: home of the stars near the centre of the Milky Way

The site of the Hubble Space Telescope features an excellent picture of the area with the symbol Terzan 4.

A named entity is a ball-star cluster in the constellation Scorpion. Such structures contain a large number of lights that are closely connected with gravity. Unlike scattered clusters of stars that are located in the galaxy disk, the balls are in the halo.

Terzan 4, like other similar areas, has a symmetrical spherical shape. This is clearly visible in the image presented, and the concentration of the stars increases to the center of the cluster.

Observing structures like Terzan 4 helps astronomers to study the shape, density, age and characteristics of ball assemblies near the center of the Milky Way.

Two instruments on board the Hubble Observatory were used in the filming process. This is the Advanced Camera for Survey. You can see the high-resolution image below, press to increase:
