ASUS, at a domestic electronics exhibition, IFA shared details about an unusual laptop-transformer called Zenbook 17 Fold OLED. For the first time, the manufacturer announced this new development at the CES exhibition earlier this year. Today, the company announced when this hybrid laptop and tablet, equipped with a huge 17.3-inch OLD folding disk, would be sold and how much it would cost.
Zenbook 17 Fold OLED covers 87% of the area of its face. In open form, the display has a 4:3 side ratio and supports the resolution of 2,560 x 1,920 pixels. In laptop mode, the side ratio becomes 3:2, the screen ' s work area is reduced to 12.5 inches and the resolution to 1920 x 1,280 pixels. For the panel, 100 per cent coverage of the colour space DCI-P3, the dynamic contrast of 1000000:1, the response rate of 0.2 ms and the frequency of renewal of 90 Hz is indicated. The VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black and Pantone certificate screen is also shown.
Zenbook 17 Fold OLED will only be offered in one configuration. The device received a 10-nuclear processor Core i7-1250U with two production kernels operating at a frequency of up to 4.7 GHz and eight energy-efficient kernels with a frequency of up to 3.5 GHz. The manufacturer provided a new 16 Gbyte of operational memory and a hard-core NVMe storage device of PCIe 4.0 format M.2 with a volume of 1 Tbyte.
The new one is equipped with four Harman Cardon dynamics, supported by the Dolby Atmos sound standard and a 5-megapixel infrared HD camera supported by the IE Algorithms.
For Zenbook 17 Fold OLED, support for wireless Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E standards with an exclusive Wi-Fi SmartConnect function to improve the quality and stability of communication is also indicated. Two Thunderbolts 4 with a fast charging function of Easy Charge and one 3.5 mm combined audio separation are also indicated.
Zenbook 17 Fold OLED received a battery at 75 Wh. The device ' s delivery package includes a power supply unit with a power capacity of 65 W. The new one will also be supplied with a magnetic Bluetooth keyboard of ErgoSense with 1.4 mm running keys. Its dimensions are 285 x 182 x 5.5 mm. The device is operated by Windows 11 Pro operating system.
The open size of Zenbook 17 Fold OLED's hybrid laptop is 378.5 × 287.6 × 8.7–11.7 mm, closed at 287.6 × 189.3 × 17.4–31.9 mm.
According to the manufacturer, the device has been tested for 30,000 opening/closing cycles.
In the presentation, ASUS representatives stressed that the design of the mechanism that opens and closes Zenbook 17 Ford OLED is very reliable and will last for many years.
Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is expected to start sales in the fourth quarter of the year. In the United States, the cost is $3,500. For Europe, the cost of the device is estimated at 3,999 euros.
