Speaking at the Offshore Northern Seas 2022 Energy Conference in Norway, Ilon Mask described the plans of his companies by the end of the year, and he hopes to complete two projects: launch the massive production of Tesla unmanned cars and launch SpaceX Starship.
The Full Self-Driving Capability package is already available for use in Tesla vehicles. It allows the machine to drive, park and stop on traffic signals. However, the use of the system is only possible for the time being when the driver is actively watching. Ilon Musk wants to run fully autonomous cars that will operate without the driver.
In the company's plans for mass production of such machines by the end of the year in the United States and possibly in Europe, but, as Mask notes, much depends on regulators to approve the use of machines.
The second project, focused on the entrepreneur, is the SpaceX Starship, a super heavy launch vehicle designed for missions ranging from low-Earth orbit satellites to interplanetary flights, which were scheduled to be launched in the summer, but the company was unable to complete all the tests and obtain approval.
Now, the company's launch permit has been granted by the regulators for six months since September 2022, so in this matter, Mask can actually make his plan come true.
