The PC Gamer portal pointed out that Kitfox Games, in a recent conversation with a fan, had hinted at the proximity of the Steam version of the Dwarf Fortress colony's cult simulation.
It was announced that Bay 12 Games would appear on the Valve Digital Distribution service in March 2019, but since then the project has not been launched.
According to Kitfox Games' tweet, there wasn't much time left to wait, and to a question from an impatient fan about when Dwarf Fortress would appear on Steam, the publisher replied:
When that happened, it was not specified, but in a recent record of the Dwarf Fortress blog, one of its creators, Tarn Adams, spoke about soon.
Adams specified that the ad was linked to the Dwarf Fortress demo, which will be shown at the upcoming PAX West 2022 Festival.
Meanwhile, a Reddit user under the pseudonym Zukov-74 observed that since 3 August on the Dwarf Fortress page in the Steam unofficial database, the release date was 19 January 2023.
On the release of Steam version, Dwarf Fortress will offer updated graphics, mice support, and other improvements. The game itself promises endless gameplay and a profound world with a simulation of many of its components.
