The Swedish holding of Embracer Group reported in a recent press release that a $300 million deal announced on 2 May had been completed to purchase Western assets from the Japanese publisher Square Enix.
According to the terms of the contract, Embracer agreed to purchase Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, rights to Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Cain and more than 50 already released from Square Enix.
The closure took place today, August 26, and Embracer Group fulfilled all the conditions, including obtaining approval from the relevant regulatory authorities, which allowed the transaction to be completed.
It was previously reported that Eidos Montreal had begun to develop several games on Unreal Engineering 5. According to journalist Bloomberg Jason Schreyer, the new Deus Ex is not expected in the coming years.
In the meantime, Crystal Dynamics is already working on a new Tomb Raider. According to rumours, the game will talk about the lonely Lara Croft who will have to learn to work on the team.
