Samsung will continue to use the AMD RDNA graphics in the Exynos mobile chips

Last year, Samsung added its flagship mobile platform, Exynos 2200, to the Xclippe 920 graphic subsystem based on the AMD RDNA 2 micro-architecture. The decision did not meet all expectations, but the Korean manufacturer has not yet intended to change anything, and the AMD technology remains in Samsung mobile chips for the time being.

," said Sun Bom Park, who is in charge of developing graphic processors, Vice-President Samsung.

AMD Radeon RX 6000 on RDNA 2 has proved to be the most competitive of the company's range over the years, although beam tracing is not its strong side. But in the mobile segment, based on the same Xclipse 920 architecture, the Xclipse 920 chart did not blister in some tests from the Snapdragon flagship platform. A Korean manufacturer has recently signed an agreement to expand strategic partnership with Qualcomm – the chips of an American developer can appear on the flagship models of Galaxy S for all regions. Snapdragon usually has American and Asian versions of Samsung flagships, and Europeans are traditionally equipped with their own Exynos chips.

The AMD RDNA architecture has a wide range of possibilities and options for scaling up, but the implementation of the product is important. It depends on many factors, including the experience of the engineering team, the characteristics of design solutions, their cost and process processes. It is possible that the potential of the AMD solutions can still be revealed in the Exynos of future generations.
