The unknown intruders, as a result of a phishing attack, were able to access either the telephone numbers of the users of the protected messenger Signal or the codes that are being sent out to register the records. The leak occurred on the side of the Twilio service, which makes the verification of the numbers, is reported on the Messenger website.

The leak affected 1,900 users. The unknown assailant, confident in Signal, did not have access to profile information, contact lists or text messages, but he allegedly saw either their telephone numbers or registration codes sent to users when they were registered in the system. All 1900 users whose numbers were compromised sent notice to request re-registration. The motives of the intruder remain unknown.

Last week, the Twilio platform did report that as a result of a phishing attack, unknown individuals were able to acquire the records of some of the company's employees who had been used to gain access to the internal resources of the service and to steal the personal data of the clients; this fact is being investigated.
