Data.ai experts have conducted research into the mobile application market in 13 countries, and have found that smartphone users spend more and more time on mobile applications.

It is noted that the growth in the use of mobile applications has slowed down since the second quarter of 2020, when, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, there was a rapid increase in the popularity of all categories of mobile applications. Users around the world had to work and learn from home, shop online, play more mobile games and communicate with each other through different videoconferencing services.

In some countries, users seem to have retained the habits acquired during the pandemic, not only in terms of the timing of different mobile applications, which have not diminished since the normalization of the health situation, but have also continued to grow; for example, Singapore residents spent 4.1 hours per day on average in mobile applications in the second quarter of 2020 and increased to 5.7 hours per day in the second quarter of 2022; in Australia, the time spent in the annexes increased from 3.6 hours to 4.9 hours between the second quarter of 2020 and the second quarter of 2022; in both cases, there was a 40 per cent increase.

Data.ai has also published the ranking of the most popular games and applications in the second quarter. Instagram* leads the world's downloads and TikTok for consumption. Facebook* continues to lead by number of active users each month, ahead of WhatsApp, Instagram*, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram and others.
