Samsung Display intends to differentiate the quality of materials in the release of OLED panels for the iPhone of 14 different price categories. According to the South Korean edition, the most advanced set will be used in the production of more expensive iPhone, while models will use the previous generation ' s materials less cheaply.
According to the publication, Samsung Display will supply OLED panels for all iPhone 14 versions, while the competition LG Display will only be a supplier for two models. The suite usually includes a standardized set of chemical elements needed for the panel production. In Samsung, the smartphone sets for Galaxy and iPhone are now marked as M-serial sets.
In 2017, the manufacturer used LT kits for the first iPhone with OLED, followed by iPhone X and iPhone XS, but since 2019, the company has been using M-series chemical kits for its own and customer needs. In particular, the M11 set will be used for the release of the 6.1- and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 panels.
New smartphones will use LTPs TFT OLED, which is less advanced than the LTPO TFT OLED technology used in more expensive models. M12 sets will therefore be used to produce panels for iPhone 14 flagships.
The same set will be used for the non-sales Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. By the way, different sets of materials were also used for the production of the Galaxy S22 flagship panels; for Ultra and Plus, the M11 set was used, while for the standard S22-M10.
For example, for the iPhone 14 display of 6.1 inch and iPhone 14 Pro Max display of 6.7 inch, RS-L versions will be used. For the iPhone 13 series, RS-K sets will be used. It is known that for the iPhone 14 Pro Max model, LG Display will supply LTO TFT OLED-pane for the first time.
