In the automobile segment, the chip deficit remained in specific directions

The quarterly report season is a good time to analyse the overall situation in the semiconductor industry with the supply of components for different purposes. Intel ' s through-the-board results clearly indicate a decline in the demand for PC components, and the smartphone segment is not well, but the vehicle ' s semi-conductor products are still lacking in the market.

This is the conclusion of Nikkei Asian Review, which analysed company statements at quarterly events and industry experts' data for the second quarter. Toyota Motor reportedly still reduced the production program by 20% of the originally planned level in August. The manufacturer of industrial robots and Fanuc machines has admitted that he still has to find an alternative to the missing chips in his production. President Renesas Electronics Hidetososhi Sibata reported at last Thursday's report that at the global level demand for semiconductive components is close to saturation, but the deficit remains the kind of chips that require the production of special lines of equipment. The deficit is concentrated in several areas of activity. This appears to be the product produced using mature lithography, as its lack has previously been felt.

According to Sourcengine, the waiting time for the supply of microcontrollers has been shorter than in February and March of this year. Power electronics still remains in a much larger deficit because the strong demand for electric vehicles does not allow market participants to meet it quickly. Analysts estimate that demand and supply are now approaching equilibrium in the household equipment segment, while the smartphone and PC segments show signs of overproduction.
