YouTube video aims to make the transformation of long videos into short Shorts videos as easy as possible for content authors. A new edition into a Short tool, available directly in YouTube mobile application, will allow users of Android and iOS to select up to 60 seconds from long video with the possibility of importing into the Shorts editor. Text, filters, and additional videos from the Shorts environment or from the personal library can then be added.
YouTube reported that a finished short video will link to a full video that it is a derivative of, which can make the Shorts service an ideal tool to promote more content. If users like the short video, they will be able to view the information in more detail.
Unlike other instruments like Cut, which allow the use of five seconds from a longer video to Short, the new tool cannot be used with downloads from other users; it can only be used in its own production video.
YouTube has devoted quite a lot of attention to the Shorts function since its premiere in 2020, taking a number of measures, ranging from creating a fund to pay short content to convert existing videos to Shorts, when it comes to "vertical" content for up to 60 seconds.
According to YouTube, the tool Edit into a Short "will give a new life to your classical content" — access to the function has already begun to appear in different parts of the world. Although the tool is unlikely to replace the traditional video editing software for Shorts, it will be able to inspire the authors to revise their old "reanimation" videos in a new format.
