Microsoft made Xbox Series X and S Series download faster

Microsoft has reduced the time of downloading Xbox Series X and Series S game consoles at a cold start, i.e. after the systems were shut down completely. This was achieved by reducing the time of demonstrating the Xbox logo's initial animation.

The accelerated download of Xbox Series X and Series S consoles became available to Microsoft insiders. Now the Xbox logo is shown for about four seconds, while earlier the process took about nine seconds. This information was confirmed by Josh Mansey, Senior Manager of Xbox Integrated Marketing. He noted that the developers had created shorter animations from the original, which helped to reduce the overall time of downloading the consoles.

According to available data, Xbox Series X and Series S owners will benefit from faster download only if the console is switched to an energy-saving mode in which the device is almost completely switched off. A fast download will not be available when the console is removed from the waiting mode. Switching to the energy-saving mode means that users will not be able to turn on the console and become involved almost immediately in the game process. However, this option will save electricity, albeit slightly.

After shorter animation with the Xbox logo is made available to a wide range of users, the process from switching on the console to downloading the user interface will take about 15 seconds, while now it takes 20 seconds. This improvement makes the energy saving mode more attractive, especially after Microsoft has made it a default option for new Xbox consoles earlier this year, and has added support for downloading updates in background mode.
