Google started open testing new AR points -- they can translate text, help navigation, and not just

More than 10 years after the debut of Google Glass's updated reality, the company decided to try again in this field, the launch of a new-generation AR test, as stated in the company's official blog. A distinctive feature of the gadget is its purpose: the added reality glasses perform auxiliary rather than entertaining functions.

Based on the images presented by Google, the new updated reality glasses appear to be very similar to the normal ones. They are equipped with a built-in camera, but they are not able to capture photos and videos: they are used only for the operation of an artificial intelligence system that recognizes objects and text similar to the Google Lens application. The developer indicates that the device will be tested for basic tasks: transcription and translation of the text, image search, and navigation functions.

Special attention is paid to the issue of confidentiality, and it is prohibited for test participants to use added reality glasses.

When you save images for analysis and debugging, i.e. while the camera is running, a LED indicator is activated, and others have the right at any time to ask the tester to remove the image immediately -- it will be erased without delay. Google emphasizes that all images are immediately removed except when they are necessary for analysis and debugging -- such data are unidentified by removing the symbols on the vehicle registration plates and faces. The debugging images are then stored on the secure Google server, which is accessible only to a small number of company employees. And after 30 days they are removed in any case.
