The total sales of the Final Fantasy X and its sequel exceeded 20 million copies

Japan's publisher and developer Square Enix, at the request of Gematsu, confirmed the total sales volume achieved by the Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 role-playing games since the launch.

Remember, Square Enix last reported on the success of the final Fantasy X sub-series before the remaster's release in October 2013. By that time, the number of copies of both games had exceeded 14 million.

A further 6.8 million copies have been reported since then: as of September 2021, the total shipment and digital sales of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 were 20.8 million.

The final Fantasy X debuted in July 2001. Both games were originally designed for PS2 but were subsequently reprinted on new platforms.

The original release of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster was released in December 2013 on PS3 and PS Vita, but eventually the remaster reached PS4.
