A year of guarantee will be set for the electronics imported into the Russian Federation by means of

The complex electronics, including smartphones, household appliances and electronics, imported into Russia at parallel imports, will be subject to a one-year guarantee, reporting the Izvesty resource with reference to information from the Internet Trading Association.

As told by Artem Sokolov, the President of AIT, who included the Retailers M. Video, Eldorado, Citilink, All Instruments, Jandex.Market, Ozon and DNS, said that it was usually the manufacturer of the device who gave the guarantee. The Retailers also had the right to provide the guarantee of their choice. The expert added that there was currently no legal provision for a minimum guarantee period with parallel imports.

Since the manufacturer does not provide a guarantee for the domestic market in parallel imports, the retailers have decided to make this commitment in order to "save the service to the people." To do so, they will need to enter into contracts with service centres that had previously worked with the producers to repair the guarantee. Of course, the cost of repair in this case falls on the retailers. This obligation will apply only to goods that have been received in parallel imports or that have been purchased by the retailers without the consent of the right holder.

As Oleg Pavlov's chapter of the Public Consumer Initiative explained to Izves, under the law, the seller's or manufacturer's liability for the quality of the goods is two years, i.e. if the seller or manufacturer has a guarantee period of one year, the buyer's right to apply to the seller for the quality of the goods is retained for another year if it is proved that the product had a marriage or breakdown prior to the sale.
