10 SEO Techniques You Never Heard About, Or The Evolution Of Google

I think you know that many things have changed in SEO during the past years. Over the course of time, Google has become smarter, trickier, and faster. Many experienced webmasters changed their approach to the recent apparent things, while the rest has become the hostages of their delusions. If you’re just a beginner, it’s a complicated task to figure out which SEO techniques are still actual and which of them don’t work anymore. But a lot of SEO gurus only spread gossip having no practice. At the same time, some secret SEO techniques are working perfectly while few people know about them. I want to reveal you some new methods capable of affecting your visibility in Google. Some of these methods might look a bit weird. However, the only way to check these techniques is to try them by yourself.

Let’s take a look at our TOP 10 list of new SEO techniques:

  1. Don’t submit your website and its sitemap to WMT
  2. You may not use a meta description
  3. Don’t use keywords in your article
  4. Email subscribers as a behavior factor which affects your ranking
  5. Use FeedBurner as a tool which forces Google to index your pages rapidly
  6. Post more than five articles a day to allow Google to consider you as a news website
  7. Use YouTube to be in the TOP 10
  8. Learn how making your content wholly unique
  9. Don’t use Fetch as Google to get into index faster, but use this tool to submit news content
  10. Use NOFOLLOW backlinks from Wikipedia and other popular websites to improve your ranking

Don’t submit your website to Google Search Console, including Sitemaps

You used to believe that the first thing you need to do after purchasing your domain is to submit your website to Google Search Console (WMT). In fact, there is nothing wrong with such approach since Google recommends it. But there is one vital detail I want to talk about. As a beginner, you’re trying to speed up the time and make the things faster. Your blog contains only 5-7 pages, but you decide to submit it to Google Search Console. Well, let’s imagine you did it. What would happen next? Of course, Google would visit your website for the first time and index your 5-7 pages. But next time, you will have to wait for Google at least a week.

Instead, I’d suggest you don’t care of the GoogleBot. Perhaps you don’t know, but Google knows about your website’s existence since the moment of purchasing of your domain. Your goal is to allow GoogleBot to index your site as it wants. You don’t need to force Google to care about you. So, try to do the things naturally. If you add 2-3 articles a day, GoogleBot will be visiting your website regularly, every day. All you need is to continue working on your project and Google would have to index it without WMT. By the way, GoogleBot will be able to find your sitemap.xml naturally, without submitting.

Don’t take care of your meta description

Each SEO guru would recommend you to pay attention to a meta description of each your page. Nothing is surprising in such practice. However, as a rule, in most cases, GoogleBot knows better what he prefers to see in your description. So while trying to write a brilliant description, you could make a barrier to the Google indexation. As a result, your goal is to define when your description is appropriate and when it’s better to allow GoogleBot to get a piece of your content instead.

Don’t focus on your keywords

Many years ago, it was essential to use keywords in your texts. Therefore, it was a common practice to fill your article with lots of unnecessary keywords. The current motto of Google is “naturalness.” You don’t need to use keywords anymore. In other words, only GoogleBot knows which keyword is ideal for your page. As a rule, Google takes these data from your title and H1. It would be superfluous to add many useless words in your article. However, if your text is devoted to a particular subject, you can’t avoid using this keyword. In that case, you should be careful. Otherwise, Google could penalize you for overoptimization.

Your email subscribers affect your ranking

Almost no one knows about this fact, but the number of subscribers is a ranking factor. The more important thing is the behavior of your subscribers. When a visitor fills your subscribing form, Google regards such action as a favorable factor and gives you one additional point. The more subscribers to your project, the more points you have. In other words, GoogleBot regards the number of your subscribers similar to the number of your Facebook likes/shares. In addition, your subscribers provide you direct traffic. GoogleBot also pays attention to this factor.

FeedBurner could speed up your indexation

FeedBurner is an almost useless tool in 2018 since few people use RSS. However, you might use this instrument to improve your indexation speed. All you need is to click on the tab “Publicize” and choose “PingShot” to notify GoogleBot about your new posts. This advanced SEO practice will allow you to appear in the Google SERP as rapidly as one couldn’t even imagine. However, you will have to follow some additional rule which I’m going to describe below.

FeedBurner hint

Allow Google to think that your website has news content

Getting into Google News is difficult. However, there is one trick which will allow you to be indexed like a news website. If you’re ready to post at least five articles a day, it’s your chance to summon a Google News Bot. To appear in the Google News ranking, you must be a registered media outlet. However, Google has its newsbot. So even if you’re not in the Google News listing, you have a chance to invite newsbot to your website.

In my case, it was enough to post five articles a day. Unfortunately, I don’t know your niche. As a result, I can’t recommend how many articles you need to post exactly. But I can share with you my experience. But bear in mind, you won’t appear in the Google News listing. However, GoogleBot will be immediately indexing your pages right after publishing. Don’t forget to turn on a special feature in your FeedBurner account which I’ve described above.

YouTube is your chance to be in the TOP 10 without competition

This year, Google rolled out numerous algorithm updates. A lot of webmasters have mentioned that Google now prefers YouTube videos instead of web pages. In my case, many video bloggers with no experience have received a chance to be in the TOP 3 by various high-competitive keywords in the Google SERP. In my opinion, such a bug relates to some of the recent Google algorithm updates. I don’t know how long this SEO technique might exist, but now it works brilliantly. In any case, you could try it before Google eliminate this opportunity. One more thing, such approach works mostly in info niches.

Make your content utterly unique

My experience allows me to claim that Google evaluates your content by pieces. For instance, if you take a part of your unique content (2-3 strings) and put it in the Google search string, you won’t see your website in the 1st place each time. The reason is that GoogleBot estimates your page using numerous phrases each consisting of seven words. I don’t know how exactly the algorithm works, but it’s clear that it is capable of finding some other page with the same seven words, it’s a reason to consider your content unoriginal. Some instruments might allow you to avoid this. I’ll write a single article on the subject. For now, just remember this rule concerning seven words in a row.

Fetch as Google: The Correct SEO Practice

It is customary to think that Fetch as Google is the best way to be indexed by GoogleBot rapidly. However, such assertion is wrong. When you submit your page using this tool, Google doesn’t apply all the possible filters to your article. Next day, Google reindex your web page, and its position in the SERP is changing. So don’t mislead yourself thinking that what you see in the Google SERP after submitting is your actual position. However, if you have some news content on your website, you might take advantage of this situation. Since Google doesn’t apply any filters to your page, you could be in the TOP 10 by a desired keyword for a while and thereby get a lot of natural backlinks. But this practice is completely useless for a beginner since you need to obtain enough authority for your domain to accomplish such a trick.

NOFOLLOW backlinks do matter

You used to think that NOFOLLOW backlinks are useless. But it is not so. Such type of backlinks is your chance to dilute your backlink profile. Besides, NOFOLLOW backlinks increased the authority to your domain and pages. To be sure of this, I’d suggest you get one from Wikipedia. Everyone knows that Wikipedia uses rel=”nofollow.” However, when you have a lot of backlinks from Wikipedia and other authoritative projects, your DA increases. That’s why those webmasters who use a black hat SEO method, as a rule, spam in the comments while getting only NOFOLLOW backlinks. Their goal is to increase the Domain Authority and lift their pages onto the 1st place thereby.

Read more about this practice in my article on the subject.

Conclusion

All the techniques described above relate to advanced SEO. Such methods are not so evident as it may seem. However, all the approaches are useful and work in 2018. Google changes its core algorithm occasionally. As a result, I cannot guarantee that this approach will work in 2019. But in my opinion, Google won’t change its approach to ranking cardinally. So, good luck with your SEO experiments. You might share your results in the comments.
